Making the switch to Android? Make sure to turn off iMessage

The Apple iPhone is a fantastic phone, but maybe you want a little more capability. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are pure Android devices that have incredible cameras and are super speedy. The LG G6 is a gorgeous phone that is easy to use with one hand. Samsung’s latest Galaxy S8 and S8+ are the best Androids of 2017 and have huge Infinity Displays that make videos and pictures look fantastic. We don’t blame you if you want to make the switch to Android.

Make sure you turn off iMessage on your iPhone before you make the switch

All of those blue texts you are used to with Apple’s iMessage will no longer be coming with you when you make the switch to Android. You need to turn it off if you want to get all of your texts or you might miss what’s going on with your friends and family. If you don’t turn it off, you might blame Android for deleting your texts, but it’s all on Apple. All you have to do is turn it off while your iPhone is active and it will make your switch that much better.

How to turn off iMessage

  1. Goto the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and click on Messages
  3. At the top of the menu, click on the slider to turn off iMessage

It’s that simple.

If you already gave your iPhone away, or traded it in, you can still deregister and deactivate iMessage from Apple’s support page here. All you have to do is enter your phone number associated with iMessage and then enter in the code that is texted to your new phone. It might take a couple of days to deregister your number, so be prepared to be patient.

Enjoy your new Android smartphone.
