Last minute Mother’s Day Gift: Make a video using Google Photos

I love my mom. Clean clothes, breakfast, lunch and dinner were a part of my daily routine growing up as a child. Throw in reading with me before bed and life lessons, I don’t know how she did it all especially when she had a full-time job. Mother’s Day is just a day away, and if you haven’t taken the time to get a gift for you mother, you better get to work. There’s still time left in the day to head out to the mall, Best Buy or Target to grab a gift. You can even browse our Mother’s Day Gift Guide for ideas.

For those of you with no spare budget, you can always use photos to stitch together a nice video of your mother, siblings and yourself. Google Photos has an automated tool using its facial recognition features to peruse your entire photo library to put together a 45 second video for Mother’s Day. In order to take advantage of Google Photo’s Mother’s Day feature, you will need to have a Google account and photos of your family stored in the cloud.

Create a Mother’s Day Movie using Google Photos

On the web you can go to https://photos.google.com/mothersday where you can click Get Started to create your first movie. In the Google Photos Android or iOS apps, you can go to the Assistant Tab where you will see an option to create a Mother’s Day movie. Google Photos will then ask you to select a mother, followed by any children related to her. After that, Google Photos takes over and generates a movie for your mother in a matter of minutes. You just have to check back to the Assitant Tab where you will see it when it is completed. You will have the option to share it through your Google account, or create a link to send through email or text.

You’re not limited to just one creation. If you have a large enough photo library, you can create more for the wife of your children. There’s no limit to how many videos you can create so take advantage of the tool to your heart’s desire.

I created one and sent it to my mother and she loved it. Mother’s Day is tomorrow so don’t forget to give her a call too.
