Nintendo looks to increase Switch production

The Nintendo Switch has been a huge hit since its debut on March 3, 2017. Nintendo sold 2.74 million units around the world in March alone according to Nintendo’s earnings report. It seemed like every tech related YouTube channel and media outlets were obsessing over The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s no surprise that there has been much difficulty in obtaining a Switch with such high demand.

According to a recent report by Financial Times (reported by The Verge), Nintendo is looking to increase manufacturing to 18 million units between now and March 2018. The increased push is to make sure the company has enough devices for the holiday season.

There could be some issues with increased production. Financial Times notes that a general shortage of LCD screens could prevent meeting the 18 million Switch console mark. Whether that is the case, the hope is that Nintendo figures out these potential issues so that customers can finally get their hands on one.
