You can pick up and pay for prescription medications with the CVS app for Android and iOS

Nearly seven in 10 Americans take prescription medications according to statistics from the Mayo clinic. That’s a whopping number and CVS wants to help make your life a little simpler. I’m one of the Americans that fits into that statistic and pick up my medications every 30 days from the nearest CVS. I’ve been a user of its app, not for discounts or promotions, but simply for reordering my regular prescriptions. If you’re one of the many customers who uses CVS to pick up your medications I highly recommend you check out the app.

You can download the app by clicking on the respective links above, or you can send a text message to CVS-APP (287-277) and have a link sent directly to your smartphone.

Once the app is installed on your phone you’ll need to create an account and link your personal information to it. Once verified, you’ll earn rewards on everything you purchase from CVS and have access to sale items in the store. I love the CVS app since it gives me the ability to request and refill my prescriptions without having to call the pharmacy or my doctor. Just the other night however, as I walked into the CVS to pick up my medications, I got a notification offering me an easier way to checkout. I opened the app and it provided a barcode and numerical code for the pharmacist to scan. This replaced the traditional request of having to tell the pharmacist what my name was as well as telling him how many medications I was picking up. The pharmacist was shocked that I presented him with the barcode/numerical code and said “wow, not enough people do that. It makes checkout so much faster.” And it was true – it literally took less than a minute to complete my pickup where it usually takes a little longer.

Intrigued by this feature, I browsed through the CVS app a little more and realized I could pay for my medications with my Android smartphone too.

I set my CVS account up with a credit card and plan on using it on my next visit. It’s going to make things a bit more simple and replace the chip on my credit card. Beyond those benefits, there are even more reason to use the app:

  • curbside pickup (select stores)
  • ExtraCare deals
  • prescription updates
  • coupons
  • order print photos
  • find the nearest clinic
  • order refills

The CVS app might not be glamorous but it’s extremely useful, especially for those who pick up prescription medications regularly.
