Tired of getting email notifications on your smartphones? Almost 90% of the email that is sent to your email address is spam and getting notifications on your devices can get old, fast. Luckily you can turn off notifications for each email account in your Gmail app.
Here’s how:
Android instructions
First, turn on notifications & choose your settings
- Open the Gmail app .
- In the top left, tap Menu .
- Tap Settings.
- Select your account.
- To turn on notifications, check the box next to “Notifications.”
- Tap Inbox sound & vibrate.
- Choose your notification settings, including sounds.
iOS instructions
Step 1: Choose what kind of notifications to get
If you have multiple accounts in the Gmail app, you need to change this setting for each account.
- Open the Gmail app .
- In the top left, tap Menu .
- Scroll to the bottom, then tap Settings.
- Tap your account Notifications.
- Select which types of emails you want notifications for, such as All New Mail or None.
When you see a notification on your iPhone or iPad, you can swipe the message to the left, then tap View Archive, Reply All, or Clear.
Step 2: Pick your notification settings on your device
- Go to your device’s Settings app.
- Tap Notifications Gmail.
- Choose your notification settings, including sounds.
