It has the Amazon #1 Best Selling tag associated with it as a wireless speaker with an average 4.4/5 star rating by over 5,200 reviewers at the time of writing. It’s a wireless speaker from a company with over 18 years of experience in the audio industry and is the portable type with its small size. What makes the DOSS Touch especially intriguing is its easy on the wallet price tag of just $33.99. So let’s get to the review and see if this speaker is truly worthy of its accolades.

The DOSS Touch Wireless Speaker is made of high-quality plastic that acts as the frame for the large drivers and internal battery. It’s wrapped with a metal grille to protect the internals, and on top is where the touch controls reside. On the rear of the speaker is where you will find the on/off button, microSD card slot, micro USB input and 3.5mm AUX input for a wired connection.

The DOSS Touch is roughly the same size as a 500mL water bottle. You can easily fit this speaker in a purse, laptop bag, backpack or any water bottle holder. It’s too large to fit in any pockets so it’s portable if you’re willing to throw it in a bag.

The build is quite solid and it’s a hefty little speaker at just over a pound, but that’s usually a good sign of what’s to come from the speakers. I’ve typically found that heavier speaker performs better – they have more power and a lot less distortion. The Touch has a very solid build and has withstood multiple trips in my backpack without showing any signs of wear.

Sound Performance

Whenever I purchase and use budget-friendly accessories, I usually try to gauge my review towards the price and who will be purchasing the item. In most situations, especially with gadgets, you get what you pay for. While some big brands might cost 10 times as much as the Touch, you should typically expect better performance and features. While that might be true when comparing build quality – like the Bose Soundlink Revolve which has a best in class build – it’s not completely the same when it comes to comparing sound quality.

The DOSS Touch is surprisingly able to produce detailed sound. Its high tones are particularly where this speaker shines, almost to a fault. If you’re sitting too close to it and pump the volume up, it might sound a little piercing. However, if you’re outdoors enjoying time at the pool or at a BBQ, these highs will cut through all of the background noise to produce entertaining sound that everyone can enjoy. I particularly like the fact that there is almost no distortion at maximum volume with this speaker.

The lows are definitely present in all music without being overwhelming, while the mids take a back seat to the highs. The lows remain balanced and punchy at maximum volume and show no sign of being overpowered. It has plenty of power and will vibrate a table or desk when it’s pumping out loud tunes. Overall the sound is entertaining and lively and certainly punches above its weight class in this category. I’ve listened to over a hundred wireless speakers in the past two years, and I’d rank this one as one of the best under $75. And being 100% honest, if there was a big name brand on it with a higher price tag, I wouldn’t be upset with paying double the price.

The touch interface is a unique feature that I appreciate. I’ve used several portable speakers that had buttons wear out over time, but this touch control interface is quick to respond and is very intuitive. I also like that the controls are backlit which makes the Touch very easy to use at night.

The addition of the microSD card slot is nice. You can download countless songs and play music on the Touch without needing a data or WiFi connection.

Another area where the DOSS Touch shines is in battery life. I almost never listen to mine above 50% of maximum volume and I regularly go up to 15 hours before needing a recharge. Any wireless speaker that lasts more than eight hours is truly portable in my book. You can bring this little speaker on weekend trips and you can enjoy your music wherever you go without having to worry about needing to find a wall outlet.

So does the DOSS Touch deserve its number one ranking on Amazon?

With absolute certainty, it earned every bit of its number one title. The DOSS Touch is a steal at $33.99. It has fantastic battery life, an excellent build with a cool and unique touch interface, but most importantly it sounds great. The sound is full of life and I love that it doesn’t distort when turned up to ear-piercing levels. If you’re on a tight budget but still want to enjoy your music, I can’t recommend a better speaker at this price range.

  1. I just received my DOSS portable Bluetooth speaker and love It! At mid level volume you can hear it from my bedroom at rear and front of my house throughout the house! Clear, crisp sound and I’ve not had to charge it from the box. I’m on about hr 7 to 8 (Not steady) & it’s STILL sounding great. I can get about 50 ft away before the Bluetooth starts to drop or crackle if I’m playing from paired phone. I have NOT tried the SD card yet, but I have confidence it’ll be fine. I’d buy another one due to the product sound quality, build quality and most of all PRICE!
