How to take a screenshot on the iPhone X (tutorial)

The iPhone X is going to take some time getting used to. The absence of the trusty home button that has been on every past iPhone is now gone in favor of a bezel-less OLED screen. Simple functions such as getting back to the home screen must now be relearned. You might be wondering how people get used to other smartphones without home buttons. The learning curve is much lower because smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 uses a virtual home button. The iPhone X is tackling the lack of a home button by implementing gesture-based control. To go back to the home screen, simply swipe upward. Relearning simple functions may be cumbersome and less than ideal, but if you want the latest and greatest, you’ll have to adapt. Here is a simple tutorial on how to take a screenshot on the new iPhone X.

How to take a screenshot on the iPhone X

  1. Set up your screen to whatever you want to take a screenshot of.
  2. Hold the Sleep/Wake button on the right side and simultaneously press the Volume Up button
  3. A preview of the screenshot will pop up in the bottom left of the screen. You can now edit the screenshot using the Markup feature on iOS 11.

Basically, the only thing you really need to remember is that the Volume Up button takes the place of the home button.

Whether you agree with Apple’s decision to remove the home button or not, these gesture-based controls seem to be here to stay. History has shown us that once Apple takes something away (*cough* headphone jack *cough*), Apple doesn’t change its mind. Stay tuned with deTeched to see more tutorials on iPhone X.
