The future of iPhone is here. Personally, I have conflicting feelings towards the major overhaul of the iPhone X. I recently bought the iPhone 8 Plus, rather than waiting for the iPhone X. I love Touch ID too much and I am clinging on to that feature as long as I can. I’ve been so accustomed to upgrading my iPhone and automatically knowing how everything functions. The iPhone X brings a new challenge of relearning basic functions now that the home button has been removed. Here at deTeched, we are continuing our tutorial series to help you get familiar with the iPhone X so you’re not pulling your hair in frustration.
How do I shut down the iPhone X?
Yes. The iPhone X still has the Sleep/Wake button on the right side of the phone. You might be thinking, “just hold the right button to turn it off”. Psych!!! That button has now been repurposed to activate Siri. The solution is simple. Now all you have to do is hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Up button at the same time until you see the familiar “slide to power off” message. This will also pull up the option to view your Medical ID or Emergency SOS. If you don’t know, Emergency SOS is a new feature on iOS 11 that allows anyone to call emergency services even if the iPhone is locked.
This is going to be a rough transition for long-time iPhone users and you will definitely find yourself accidentally pressing for a non-existent home button. However, this is a minor price to pay to have a bigger screen than the iPhone 8 Plus, but in a smaller body.
