Happy Thanksgiving! We’re thankful to our readers

Happy Thanksgiving 2017! We hope your Thanksgiving is off to a wonderful start, has great food in store and eventually ends up with you safe and sound back in your cozy bed.

2017 has been a fantastic year for deTeched. If you’ve checked our site for the past year, you’ve seen us put out regular content with a focus on what matters to you most. That means when every other site is reviewing major phone releases, we’re trying to cover cases and accessories since that’s what’s on your mind after you made a major purchase. It kind of makes sense right? If you’re getting a new phone, the most important thing you’re going to need are cases, screen protectors and tutorials on how to use the coolest features of your phones. While the stuff we cover may not be as glamorous and glitzy as what everyone else is covering, we know the stuff we write about matters to you. We’ve seen deTeched’s views steadily climb throughout the year with no slowing down in sight. Alexa, an analytics tool for ranking websites across the globe, has deTeched in the top 150k websites across the US thanks to you readers. Because we’ve seen a solid following of readers, we’ve been able to enable minimal advertisements which is allowing us to bring in a small but steady income. We’ve partnered up with Google to bring the most relevant ads to you, in hopes they actually help you, rather than annoy you. We’ve seen a small success with that as you’re clicking on the actual ads which increases our revenue, and we’re thankful to you again for your clicks.

Luke Nam and I are colleagues at a biotech here in San Diego. Our passion is to help humankind by being apart of a team that creates treatments for neurological disorders. Our company even got its first drug approved this year, Ingrezza for the treatment of tardive dyskenesia, which is one of the most gratifying accomplishments I’ve been apart of in my lifetime. There’s nothing better than hearing stories of patients whose lives are being improved by something we’ve created.

Personally, I’ve been at it for 15 years and absolutely love my work as a medicinal chemist. Luke came along a couple of years ago, fresh out of UCSD, and we paired up well for our love of science, but also for our love of technology. It’s a bit funny, deTeched is a way to share our love and hobby with all of you, and your clicks on our site tell us we’re on to something good here. Luke and I even work on science and automation together in the lab. You can see below one of the automation tools we use in the lab. We’re fortunate to be able to work for a great company and to bring our love of tech and science together on a daily basis.

We’d write all day if we could, but we have day jobs that keep us occupied. For 2018, we hope to bring on a couple of additional writers to help bring you more content that you find valuable and informative. You’re always our first in our minds and that will never change. In 2018, we hope to get our views up even more with those new writers, that way manufacturers would be willing to partner with us to generate more giveaways for you. In the beginning it was all about you, and in the end it’s all about you. Thank you again for all of your support for 2017 and we look forward to bringing you more of what you want for 2018.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday. Eat well and stay safe out there.

With gratitude,

Derrick
