A lot of users are complaining about the Bixby button on the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8. While I happen to use Bixby, especially as a quick way to see my steps throughout the day, many of you think it’s useless since the Google Assistant is readily available on your device already. Nonetheless, some of you will want to change the purpose of the Bixby button on your Galaxy. So here’s the quickest way to do it.
Keep in mind, Samsung regularly updates its software to disable Bixby so this remap might be temporary.
- Download and install Bixby Button Remapper from the Google Play Store
- Run the new app
- Toggle the Bixby Remapper button on
- The app will direct your to accessibility settings where you will need to enable the Bixby Remapper
- Go back to the Bixby Remapper app.
- Select how you want to enable the remapping button. There’s a fast mode and a more stable mode. The button will still call up Bixby but then perform the task you enable it.
- From the drop-down list, select Toggle Flash Light.
Now with every press of the Bixby button, you’ll be able to turn your flashlight on or off with each push. Keep in mind you will no longer be able to use Bixby, even if you try sliding the home screen to the right. If you want Bixby back, simply open the app, and disable the remapping button or uninstall the app.
