iXCC Braided Lightning Cable is perfect for charging your phone in your car (review)

The iXCC Braided Lightning cable is 4 feet long, braided, and MFi certified to charge your iPhone just like any Apple branded Lightning cable. It works like any normal Apple branded Lightning cable (it charges and also can be used to sync files from your device to your computer), but it has a couple awesome things that make it better than your average Lightning cable.

First of all, the cable is 4 feet long which is about 3/4 of a foot longer than a standard Apple Lightning cable. It may not seem like much, but it really makes a difference when you’re far from an outlet, or when you’re laying in bed and want to roll over in the other direction but don’t want to unplug your phone.

I can see the iXCC braided Lightning cable being great for using in a car to charge or play music. I can think of multiple times where I’ve been in the backseat of a car needing to charge my phone with a cord that could only reach from the lighter socket to the front seat. I notice this especially in Lyfts or Ubers — they often have chargers to keep their own phones powered as they’re driving. Most are happy to let you use their charger, but if you’re sitting in the back seat like I usually do, then once they plug your phone in then you essentially give up use of your phone for the duration of your ride since the cable isn’t long enough to reach the back seat. I recently left my phone in a Lyft because of this. I had given my phone to my driver to charge and when I got dropped off, I completely forgot it was charging in the front of the car. Luckily, I got my phone back a few minutes later, but if he had a longer cord like the iXCC Lightning cable, then it would have easily reached the back seat where I could charge it, still use it, and not forget about it.

Another reason I think this cord would be awesome in a car is that it feels strong and durable. This has to do with the braided element to it. It’s slightly heavier than a normal cable, but strong and even has a two year warranty to guarantee its durability. In fact, one of the first things I noticed when receiving this cable is that it feels sturdy. It’s definitely slightly heavier than a regular Apple cable but the weight difference is minimal. And it’s hard to say that the extra weight is due to the braided element or if it’s the extra length of the cable. Regardless, it seems like it would take a lot of use and time to get this iXCC cable to wear down or tear like so many other cables easily do with barely any use.

Another bonus feature of this cable is that it is tangle-free. I often bring this cord with me in my bag to use along with my portable charger so being able to take it out at any time and know that I won’t need to sit there untangling it before plugging it in is awesome.

Overall, this is a great quality cable for a quality price. You can find it on Amazon for only $9.99. Even if it does break you have the 2 year warranty on the cable, but I really don’t foresee this cable breaking down at all. The extra length is something that you don’t think you need, but when you have it, you’ll really come to appreciate the added length. Also, it works just like any other cable and allows you to sync or charge your phone via your computer. For doing what a cable needs to do, the iXCC braided Lightning cable does all that and has a little extra perks that only makes it better.
