PSA: You can (and should) install a theme on Chrome

Have you heard of Chrome themes? You can actually change the look and feel of your browser by installing a theme from the Chrome Web Store with the single click of a button. Many people I know don’t use a theme because they don’t know they exist – here’s how you can install one of the thousands available and add a unique touch to your browser.

It goes without saying that these steps only apply to Google’s Chrome browser on a desktop.

Step 1: Open the Chrome Web Store

This is the same place that you can get extensions from. Head over to this link or, depending on your settings, you can just click the Web Store link in the Chrome Apps page. (Just use the first link if you don’t know where your Chrome Apps page is).

Step 2: Browse a category or do a search

There are many themes to choose from. It may take some time to find one that suits your taste as there are so many to choose from. Try searching for “material” or “dark” or “Star Wars”.

Step 3: “Add to Chrome”

Once you have found a nice theme, click the “Add to Chrome” button. The theme will quickly download and automagically apply the theme without you having to do anything. Cool, right?

You can read more about Chrome themes at the official page, along with more in-depth instructions.
