A major upgrade in iOS 11 is a customizable Control Center. The previous Control Center was mainly used to toggle on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and was also limited to turning on your flashlight, starting a timer, or opening up your camera. The release of iOS 11 offers a wider array of shortcuts that you can add or remove based on preference. These shortcuts allow you to quickly access certain features without having to navigate through Settings.
Here are all the customizable controls available in the Control Center. To access your Control Center, simply swipe up from the bottom of your screen.
- Alarm
- Calculator
- Flashlight
- Timer
- Accessibility Shortcuts
- Apple TV Remote
- Camera
- Do Not Disturb While Driving
- Guided Access
- Low Power Mode
- Magnifier
- Notes
- Screen Recording
- Stopwatch
- Text Size
- Wallet
How to customize the Control Center
- Tap Settings
- Scroll down to Control Center
- Tap Customize Controls
- Tap the green + to add controls and the red – to remove controls.
- You can rearrange the order of your controls by holding the three bars and dragging it where desired.
If you aren’t able to access the Control Center when you’re in a different app, you probably have the Access Within Apps feature turned off. All you have to do is go to where Customize Controls is located and find “Access Within Apps” and make sure it is turned on.
There is no limit to how many controls you can have on the Control Center. If you want, you can add every single control to the Control Center. They will all be located under the volume and brightness slider and arranged like the apps in your Home screen. However, the best way to use the Control Center is to keep only your most used shortcuts to minimize clutter.
