If you’re not a smartphone enthusiast and live in the US, there’s a very good chance that you have never heard of Huawei. Huawei makes smartphones and it’s the second largest phone manufacturer in the world, trailing only Samsung as the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer. and even surpassed Apple. Huawei has made several phones for the US market, including a Google collaborated Nexus 6P two years ago. Its phones are unlocked and aren’t sold through traditional phone outlets, instead, they’re sold through places like Best Buy, NewEgg, and Amazon. Huawei made a name for itself in China where it sold great products at reasonable prices. It sells phones as low as $100 and they go up well above $1000 for limited edition Porsche branded premium smartphones. There’s one phone though that should be on your radar from Huawei and it is the Honor 7X.
In a US market dominated by phones that cost well over $700, think Samsung, Google, and Apple) Huawei’s Honor 7X is everything you need in a phone without everything you don’t need. And the best part about the 7X is its $199.99 price tag where it’s now available to pre-order on Amazon.com for shipment on Jan. 25th.
The Honor 7X is a third generation mid-range phone in the US. The 5X was released two years ago which was followed by the 6X last year. If you don’t want to take my word for how great this phone is, read the true user reviews from Amazon about the 6X here and the 5X here.
For $199.99, let’s check out the specs you get with the Honor 7X.

The specs won’t blow you away on paper but remember you’re only paying $200 with no contracts or financing that locks you into this phone. I’ve used both previous models, the 5X and 6X and know that the 7X is everything most users actually need and want in smartphones. First, you get a massive 5.93″ FHD+ display which is what most people care about. Second, it comes with a massive 3340mAh battery which is slightly larger than the pricey Galaxy Note 8 and should get all-day battery life with ease. Third, the 7X comes with a 16MP dual camera that probably won’t match Pixel 2 levels, but it should be more than enough camera for people who are budget conscious. With 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, it should perform at high speeds for several years to come. I say that with full confidence because my good friend still uses the 5X, after two years and still experiences the same speeds when the phone was new. This phone doesn’t come with advertising like the unlocked Amazon phones, and it has a very nice build quality that is much greater than the price tag.
I’ve been a huge fan of Huawei ever since it came to the US with the Nexus 6P and will be ordering the 7X just to review it for you readers. I’m going to make it hard to switch too as my last three phones I’ve used with regularity have been the Note 8, Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X. I believe the US market of smartphones doesn’t have to consist of $1000 devices for the vast majority of users. I think there’s a huge market that is untapped with budget-conscious phones like the Honor 7X that actually put quality above marketing and advertising.
