$1000 is a heck of a lot of money to spend on a smartphone. If you own an iPhone X you know the fears of dropping the expensive piece of greatness. A single drop can cost upwards of $549 if you happen to break your display and back glass panel if you don’t spend $200 on AppleCare+. The absolute most effective way to protect your phone is with a case. With literally thousands of cases to choose from at all price points, the question is which is the right one for you? The last thing you want to do is put a case on your iPhone that you think will protect your phone, only to fail on the first drop and let your iPhone X break on impact. Here at deTeched, we’re big fans of Urban Armor Gear because all of its cases offer the best protection for all of our phones. UAG is in a class of a small selection of case manufacturers who actually drop test their cases to meet military standards. I’ve been using the UAG Monarch Series case for my iPhone X and think it offers everything I want in a case to protect my $1150 investment.
The Monarch Series case from UAG is its most premium case that is made for a wide selection of phones. Luke recently reviewed it for his iPhone 8 Plus, while I reviewed it last year for the Note 8. It comes with a heavy price tag at $59.99 but has the justification to back up its asking price. The Monarch case is made up of five layers, yes, five layers. One layer acts as an exoskeleton which gives the case the backbone for rigidity and superior protection. It has a layer of real leather on the back to give it a luxurious look and feel between the armor frame. There’s also a polycarbonate sheer plate which sits in the middle of the case that wrapped in impact resistant rubber in all the right places. The impact resistant rubber lines the corners and sides of the phone, where the sides are textured to give superior grip resistance to make the phone easier to hold.
The sides of the case have raised buttons for the volume rocker and power/Siri button on the iPhone X. It allows users to find the buttons without having to look at the phone. The case wraps around the iPhone X in all the right places and offers a raised lip to protect the front glass from drops and scratching when placed on flat surfaces.
As you know, the iPhone X has the ability to charge wirelessly using Qi-compatible chargers. Most protective cases are too thick to allow for wireless charging, but the Monarch series case manages to be thin enough so you can take advantage of it. That’s a major reason why we love UAG cases because they offer 2X military-grade testing while allowing for wireless charging at the same time.
I really like the rugged look of the iPhone Monarch Series case – it kind of reminds me of the Ford Raptor. It offers ruggedness and luxury with unmatched durability that’s usable for everyone. It feels great in hand, stands up to the daily grind I put it through, and it keeps my iPhone X safer than any other case I’ve used.
Don’t put price above protection when it comes to your iPhone X. Your new phone needs protection that the UAG Monarch case offers and that might save you up to $549 in repair fees down the line. The Monarch Series case costs $59.99 and is a fantastic investment for anyone who is rough on their devices.
